Apple Store coming to Richmond, Virginia

Apple will open a retail store in Richmond, Virginia at the Short Pump Town Center, according to the mall’s Web site. The Short Pump Town Center will have its grand opening on September 4, 2003. “The two-level, open air Short Pump Town Center is shaping up to be the impressive array of new-to-the-market stores we envisioned, creating a shopping experience unrivaled in Richmond,” said Doug Lund, senior vice president, Forest City Commercial Development, the company developing and managing the center.

IBM PowerPC 970 running at speeds of up to 2.5 GHz

IBM today posted details on its PowerPC Blade, which utilizes the new 64-bit PowerPC 970 processor running at speeds of up to 2.5 GHz. Originally announced in October, the IBM PowerPC 970 offers full symmetrical multi-processing, has a high reliability (with parity L1, ECC L2 and parity checked system bus), is manufactured in the latest 0.13 micrometer Copper/SOI CMOS technology, has onchip 512 KB L2 Cache, and an Altivec Vector/SIMD unit.
