Shares of Apple rose more than 8 percent Tuesday, gaining US$1.41 to $17.50 each on the Nasdaq Stock Market, despite Merrill Lynch reiterating its “sell” rating on AAPL. Today is the stock’s second straight day of promising gains — yesterday it jumped more than 11 percent to $16.09.

New Apple Keyboard, Mouse debut

Along with the new eMacs that were rolled out today, Apple also quietly introduced a new keyboard and mouse that will ship with the new desktops. The new Apple Keyboard has a larger base and sports two USB ports on the backside near the cord — unlike the Apple Pro Keyboard, which has USB ports on each side.
