Gefen announces Ex-tend-it 4×1 DVI/ADC Switcher

Gefen today announced its Ex-tend-it 4×1 DVI/ADC Switcher, which connects four DVI sources to two ADC and/or DVI displays. “DVI sources include any computer or HDTV (High Definition Television) equipped with a DVI port. Each source is accessed through either display. Any DVI or ADC equipped display can be used with the Switcher including Apple’s 23-inch Cinema HD Display. The 4×1 DVI/ADC Switcher is made with a technology that is better equipped to display high-end visuals so visual acuity is assured.

Apple releases Java update for Oracle

Apple has posted Java 1.3.1 Update for Oracle, which provides support for Oracle 11i client applications on Mac OS X. Apple recommends that you only update to Java for Oracle if you need to use Oracle 11i client applications. The release is just in time for Sun’s 2003 JavaOne conference, which takes place June 10-13 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California. Apple is one of the co-sponsors of the conference and will also be exhibiting.

Apple airs music commercials

Apple began airing its commercials for the new iTunes Music Store and iPods last night during primetime on NBC. The ads, which we noted in April, feature real people singing songs from famous artists — such as Eminem and Pink — while listening to them on a new third generation iPod. The commercials are done in the same style as Apple’s “Switch” ads — all-white background, camera panning and only one person. The commercials end with: “Your favorite songs. 99¢ each.

DayLite gains Chartsmith, iCal integration

Marketcircle has released DayLite 1.4, a free update to its business software designed to manage customers, accounts, marketing campaigns and sales. Version 1.4 adds integration with Blacksmith’s charting application, Chartsmith — data can now be analyzed, and displayed as various color 3D effects charts. The update also brings an iCal exporter for the DayLite calendar, and the ability to create merged documents in Microsoft Word and Excel. DayLite is available for Mac OS X, with prices starting at US$95.
