iTunes music downloads ‘lag behind’ vinyl sales

Noting Apple’s announcement last week of selling over two million songs in the first weeks of the iTunes store, Rolling Stone’s Warren Cohen says the numbers are impressive, but “represent a small portion of the music industry’s US$11.5 billion annual revenue.” He reports, “At this pace, the labels stand to earn about $33.8 million from the iTunes Music Store this year, which lags behind the $45.4 million that vinyl records brought in last year.

NASA releases TetrUSS for Mac OS X

NASA Langley Research Center has released TetrUSS, its fluid dynamics and aerodynamics analysis software, for Mac OS X. “Originally developed for NASA internal applications, has gradually evolved into an efficient and versatile CFD tool used by engineers and scientists throughout the nation. TetrUSS has been employed in major NASA research programs such as High Speed Research / High Speed Civil Transport, Hyper-X, Abrupt Wing Stall, Mars Scout, Joint Strike Fighter, and many other smaller projects.
