FirewireDirect today announced a new FireWire 800 CardBus/PCMCIA adapter for Type II slots, which sports both a 9-pin FireWire 800 port and a legacy 6-pin port for 400Mbps FireWire products. “The new card is fully compliant with this new implementation of the FireWire standard, offering speeds of up to 800Mbps (twice as fast as the existing FireWire standard) along with enhancements to data integrity that will make FireWire 800 even better suited to digital video and audio work.”

Opera Web browser update due tomorrow

Opera Software will be releasing version 6.02 of its Mac Web browser tomorrow, according to c|net. The article notes, “In January the company was caught off guard when Apple Computer released its Safari browser based on the open-source KHTML code.
