Apple’s Asia-Pacific VP talks market share

MIS Magazine has published excerpts of an interview with Tony Ho, Apple’s Asia-Pacific vice-president, who joined Apple after 14 years as IBM’s general manager and director of its Greater China PC division. “Apple’s goal in Beijing is to increase market share in its traditional strongholds such as publishing and design, expand into the consumer electronics space with its iPod digital music player, and make inroads into the enterprise space via its Xserve and Xserve RAID servers,” said Ho.

Corel, Lynda.com introduce Corel Training CDs

Corel today announced that Lynda.com has produced training CDs for Corel Painter 8 and CorelDRAW 11. The US$49 CDs, entitled “Getting Started with Corel Painter 8” and “Getting Started with CorelDRAW 11,” each feature over 30 cross-platform QuickTime movies on how to use the graphics applications. The Corel training CDs are available now for pre-order and will start shipping July 21.

Omikron Basic 7.5 (Beta) for Mac OS X

The programming language Omikron Basic for Apple PowerMac is now
available as beta version 7.5.

It is now possible to use the control word COMPILER "Carbon"
to compile programs in such a way that they run native under Mac OS X.
However, most programs do not need to be modified to still benefit
from the new functionality. Only the Extension Library and the EasyGem
Library have to be replaced with the latest versions.
