NASA benchmarks Power Mac G5

MacMinute reader Derek Kent let us know that NASA has apparently benchmarked Apple’s dual 2GHz Power Mac G5 at its Langley Research Center in Virginia. “The main purpose of the tests was to compare the G5 to the G4 for ‘computational fluid dynamics applications’ however they also compare it to the Pentium 4.

NASA space exhibit uses iMacs

NASA @ your library” is a new traveling exhibit featuring six iMacs and a plasma-screen theater, which begins a two year tour of US libraries this month. The goal of the interactive exhibit is to use the “cool factor” of space to “interest children in math and science, and to make people aware of the unique benefits of doing science in orbit.” The tour kicks off at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland. Five exhibits will visit a total of 120 libraries, staying a month at each one.
