Sony targets corporations with new flat-panel displays

Sony today announced new flat-panel displays targeted to corporate and government customers. The new 15-inch SDM-X53, 17-inch SDM-X73 and 19-inch SDM-X93 models “maximize productivity with the exclusive ErgoStand control system and ErgoBright technology, which improve both energy efficiency and desktop space,” notes Sony in the press release. The new displays will be available later this month, priced at about US$430 and $600 for the X53 and X73, respectively. The X93 is expected to sell for about $800.

Miglia ships 400GB, 500GB MediaBank MT-R

Miglia today announced the immediate availability of a 400 and 500GB version of its FireWire Raid units. MediaBank MT-R is a dual bay external FireWire hard drive case made out of aluminum and featuring dual Oxford 911 ATA-to-FireWire bridge boards. The 240GB version ships with IBM 180 GXP 7200RPM drives (2MB cache), while the 400 and 500 GB versions ship with Maxtor 7200RPM drives (2MB cache).

WiebeTech offers 7200RPM MicroGB+ Pocket Drive

WiebeTech today announced a 7200RPM version of the company’s popular MicroGB+ pocket drive. The new drive utilies Hitachi’s latest notebook drive and offers “performance benchmarks that are directly comparable to desktop drives,” notes the press release. The new version of MicroGB+ has a capacity of 60GB and is available in a FrieWire-only version (US$469.95) and a FireWire/USB2 combo version ($499.95).
