Kano debuts FireWire/USB 2.0 DVD+RW drive

Kano Technologies today announced its SLIM-K2Xtreme portable DVD+RW drive. The FireWire/USB 2.0 combo drive lets burn DVDs at speeds of up to 2.4x (write), 2.4x (rewrite) and 8x (read), and burn CDs at 16x (write), 8x (rewrite) and 24x (read). The compact drive measures 5.5 x 6 x .75 inches and weighs 10 ounces. It is priced at US$399 and comes with Roxio’s Toast Lite and Dantz Retrospect Express.

Free games, iTunes training for .Mac members

Apple has added six free solitaire games from GameHouse to the members-only section of its .Mac Web site. The game styles include Golf, Turbo, Klondike, Pyramid, Crescent, and Addiction. A US$5 discount is also being offered on GameHouse’s Super Mah Jong Solitaire. In addition, Apple is currently providing a free version of the online training course “Going Digital with iTunes” ($39.95 value).
