Apple gets high marks in service & reliability survey

Apple desktops and notebooks earned top honors in PC Magazine’s 16th annual Service & Reliability reader survey, which evaluated “everything from the reliability of the products readers are using, to the quality and frequency of repairs and technical support to the respondent’s willingness to buy again from the same company.” Apple received an “A+” in the desktop category and an “A” in the notebook category. Also scoring high were Dell, IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba.

PocketDock FireWire-to-iPod adapter announced

The iPodlounge notes that Sendstation today announced the PocketDock, an adapter that allows a standard 6-pin FireWire cable to connect to a new third generation iPod’s proprietary docking port. According to the company, the PocketDock is “smaller than a box of matches” and lets you use accessories (such as car chargers) with your new iPod that were designed for previous models. It will be available later this month for US$16.95.
