Contour debuts ShuttlePRO v.2 jog/shuttle controller

Contour Design today announced the ShuttlePRO v.2, an enhanced version of the company’s award-winning USB jog/shuttle controller. The ShuttlePRO v.2 will be shown at this week’s Macworld CreativePro Expo (booth #655) in New York and at the Summer NAMM Show (booth #341) in Nashville, TN. The new device sports a new alloy jog wheel, 15 programmable buttons, and a “sleek” new black color. The ShuttlePRO v.2 will be available in August for US$129.95.

Carnegie Mellon University installs over 100 iMacs

Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science was eager to tear down the “wall of computing that separated teachers from their students.” To put “the best technology” into its undergraduate teaching environment, the school recently installed over 100 new iMacs in its A. Nico Habermann Computing Classroom. The facility serves between 1,100 and 1,200 students each academic year.

Formac offers display promo, expo specials

Formac today announced that it will offer US$100 off its qualifying displays if purchased together with a Power Mac G4, G5 or PowerBook system. The bundle promotion lowers the price of Formac’s 20.1″ LCD to $999. The promotion starts July 16 and expires September 30, 2003. Native Instruments ships Absynth 2.0, B4 1.1

Native Instruments today announced the immediately availability of Absynth 2.0, a new version of its synthesizer and sampler. “The combination of multiple synthesis techniques, granular sampling, and flexible envelope control generates everything from organic textures to rhythmic loops, from time-evolving soundscapes to vintage sounds,” notes the developer. Version 2.0 includes more than 800 “evocative, expressive and musical” presets that cover a wide range of sonic territory.
