Finale 2004 with Mac OS X support coming

MakeMusic! has announced Finale 2004, a new version of its popular music notation software. Finale 2004 will bring native Mac OS X support and several enhancements, including a “Human Playback” feature, the SmartMusic sound font, faster note entry, simplified shortcuts, improved expressions, and more. The Mac OS X version of Finale 2004 will ship on October 20.

Apple releases AirPort software update

Apple has released AirPort Software 3.1.1, which includes version 5.1.1 of the AirPort Extreme base station firmware. According to the release notes, the update “is recommended for all users with an AirPort Extreme enabled computer or an AirPort Extreme base station.” However, the other improvements listed are identical to those provided with the AirPort 3.1 release. Version 3.1.1 is available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.

Apple Public Source License 2.0 now ‘Free Software License’

Apple’s Darwin team has announced that version 2.0 of the Apple Public Source License (APSL) has been certified as a “Free Software License.” APSL 2.0 includes several changes to “make it even easier for Open Source developers to use and comply with.” It improves upon the OSI-approved APSL 1.2 by conforming to the definition of Free Software Licenses, as certified by the Free Software Foundation.

ConceptDraw V coming in October

CS Odessa today announced that ConceptDraw V, the next major version of its flowcharting and diagramming software, will be released in early October. “The completely redesigned version features new powerful capabilities aimed at facilitating charting tasks of business and technical users. ConceptDraw V also adds a built-in scripting language — ConceptDraw Basic that will empower developers to create custom visualization solutions based on ConceptDraw drawing engine.”
