Sony debuts new digital cameras, including 8 MP model

Sony today added two new digital cameras to its lineup. The 8 megapixel DSC-F828 (shown at right), which offers a maximum image size of 3360×2460 pixels, is encased in a black, magnesium alloy body, and is the first camera to incorporate Sony’s recently announced four-color filter CCD technology and Real Imaging Processor. Also announced was the Cyber-shot DSC-U50, a small two megapixel digital camera available in three different colors.

Apple in-store events to be held this month

Apple representatives will be on hand for a series of customer events and how-to workshops this month at select US retail locations, including Micro Center (all locations), Fry’s Electronics (all locations) and the Nebraska Furniture Mart (Kansas City, KS). Micro Center will be holding events on August 16, 23, and 30 (11AM-4PM). Fry’s Electronics will host the events on August 16 and 23 (11AM-4PM), while the Nebraska Furniture Mart will have them on August 15 (11AM-4PM), 16 and 17 (Noon-5PM).

Mac OS X District License Program extended

Apple’s Mac OS X District License Program has been extended through September 27, 2003. This adoption solution for K-12 school districts “takes the hassle out of upgrading, includes Mac OS X software, training, technical support, and applications, and — most important — saves your district more than 60 percent off Apple’s already low education licensing price.” Only districts with 1,000 or more Mac OS X-capable systems are eligible for the offer.
