MacSkinz released for 12″ PowerBooks, 14″ iBooks

MacSkinz let us know that covers are now available for 12″ PowerBooks and 14″ iBooks. MacSkinz are formed plastic panels that snugly fit over the top of existing computer panels for adding a personal touch to your Mac. According to the company, most are silk-screened and/or digitally printed in reverse fashion on the inside to create a scratch resistant product. Others, such as its simulated wood grain or carbon fiber actually have the design embedded in the plastic itself. A few more designs, as well as custom MacSkinz, are also available.

Dean gets his own ‘Switch’ campaign

A group of supporters for US Presidential candidate Howard Dean have created a Web site and ad campaign inspired by Apple’s popular “Switch” ads. The “Switch to Dean” site has several real people — who used to be “Independents, Greens, Environmentalists, Kerry supporters, GLBT, even Republicans” — that recently switched parties to support Dean as candidate.

‘Longhorn’ release slips further

Longhorn,” the next major version of Windows, which has already had its release slip from 2004 to 2005, will likely be pushed back even later, according to eWeek. Microsoft executives are now declining to say when they expect the software to ship. “We do not yet know the time frame for Longhorn, but it will involve a lot of innovative and exciting work,” said Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates at a company financial analyst meeting.

Jobs holds on to top spot in Forbes CEO ratings

Forbes has published its latest technology CEO job approval ratings, where visitors can vote on the performance of a list of CEOs. Apple CEO Steve Jobs received a rating of 91% for August, up from 77% in July. Rounding out the top three are John Chambers of Cisco Systems at 76% and Carleton Fiorina of HP at only 43%. Also of note, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer received an embarrassing 7% approval rating.
