HomeGuardian security solution uses Mac, Web cam

SubRosaSoft has announced HomeGuardian 1.0, a new application that turns a Mac and a Web camera into a security system by integrating motion detection with reporting features. “When HomeGuardian detects any movement, it can sound an audio alert and snap a series of photos then immediately send them via e-mail away from the scene to a designated e-mail account,” explains the company. Pixar announces RenderMan Pro Server for Mac

Pixar Animation Studios on Thursday announced a Mac version of RenderMan Pro Server, the company’s Academy Award-winning rendering technology. According to Pixar, which is headed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, RenderMan Pro Server will include RenderMan 11.5, featuring technology developed during the company’s blockbuster film “Finding Nemo.” It will be available in the fourth quarter of 2003.
