URL Manager Pro 3.1b1 released

Alco Bloom has released URL Manager Pro 3.1b1, the latest update of his excellent shareware bookmark manager for Mac OS X. URL Manager Pro allows users to store, manage, and organize bookmarks independently of your browser. Version 3.1b1 features a much better Mac OS X experience and adds Shared Menus support to the Safari and Mozilla browsers. In addition, URL Manager Pro now lets users specify the destination bookmark file when they add a bookmark. URL Manager Pro is priced at US$25.

Apple to open second Seattle-area store next week

Apple will open a new retail store at the University Village Mall in Seattle, Washington on Friday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. The new store is located near the University of Washington campus, at 2656 NE University Village Street. This will be the second Seattle-area Apple Store — a Bellevue Square Mall location opened in May.

Houston Apple Store named ‘ultimate cool store’

The Apple retail store in Houston, Texas, was named the “ultimate cool store” in the Houston Chronicle’s “Ultimate Houston” special section, which sought the city’s best attractions. “The new Apple Computer store exudes high style. No traditional signage is needed; instead, the entrance is emblazoned with the bite-out-of-an apple logo illuminated against a black wall.

Sony rolls out new flat-panel displays

Sony today introduced two new LCD monitors — the 17-inch SDM-HX73 (US$620) and 19-inch SDM-HX93 ($1,000). Both models feature 1280 x 1024 native resolutions and one-touch adjustable performance settings. The 19-inch display offers a 800:1 contrast ratio, while the 17-inch model has a 500:1 ratio.

The National Association of Photoshop Professionals announced today that representatives from Nikon USA will be attending the upcoming PhotoshopWorld Conference & Expo, giving hands-on demonstrations and answering questions about their latest products, which are not yet available to the general public. In particular, Nikon’s new D2H professional digital SLR camera and Capture 4.0 image processing and editing software will be previewed at the event.
