Export to iCal 1.0 for OmniOutliner released

The Omni Group today released Export to iCal 1.0, a new utility that allows OmniOutliner users to create iCal calendars from their OmniOutliner documents. Export to iCal provides the ability for OmniOutliner users to export a document to an iCal To Do item list, making an item for each entry in an outline. If an outline also contains columns for due dates and priorities, that information will be transferred to iCal as well.

PowerSchool announces PowerPack add-on

Apple’s PowerSchool division has announced PowerSchool PowerPack, a new support offering for the Web-based student information system. PowerPack is a complement to training for school administrators and teachers using PowerSchool SIS and will be offered through September 26, 2003. The PowerPack includes PowerSchool and PowerGrade tutorials, templates, user guides, product overview QuickTime movies, and more.

QuickTime chief questions plan to standardize WM9

Frank Casanova, Apple’s director of QuickTime product marketing, has criticized Microsoft’s move to transform its proprietary Windows Media 9 multimedia software into a standard. “When you are part of a standards organization you don’t develop it behind closed doors, you do it in complete conjunction with all the companies involved in that standard,” Casanova told Macworld UK
. “That’s how a standard is born, not by one company, but with dozens working together.

New SSH Exploit affects Mac OS X users

MacFixIt repots that a new SSH exploit has been found that can potentially allow someone to remotely access the target computer as root. “This security hole affects versions of OpenSSH prior to 3.7 (OS X 10.2.6 includes OpenSSH 3.4.). As with previous exploits to the open-source code included in OS X, expect Apple to release a Security Update that closes this hole within the next week or so.”
