Panther unleashed into the wild [updated]

Apple on Friday officially launched Mac OS X 10.3 Panther at more than 60 retail stores and numerous Apple authorized resellers nationwide. MacMinute has received reports from several east coast Apple Stores (which re-opened at 8:00 p.m.) that describe extremely large crowds who can’t wait to get their hands on the latest operating system. Thursby ADmitMac gains security enhancements

Thursby Software today released ADmitMac 1.1, an update to the company’s software that allows for the integration of Macintosh systems into Microsoft Active Directory and Windows NT domains. Version 1.1 contains many improvements including Mac OS X 10.3 Panther support, significant improvements in security, and support for Microsoft’s Distributed File System (Dfs).

Apple releases new iPod software for Panther

Apple has released iPod Software 1.3.1, which improves compatibility between Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and iPods without dock connectors. According to Apple: “If your iPod requires updating, the iPod Software Updater will run and allow you to install iPod Software 1.3.1 the next time you plug in your iPod and iTunes is launched.” The new version is available via the Mac OS X Software Update preference pane.
