More kudos for Panther

David Zeiler’s latest column for the Baltimore Sun gives high praise to Apple’s latest update to Mac OS X, 10.3 (Panther). He concludes, “Whether Panther is worth the money is ultimately up to each Mac user, but the abundance of cool, desirable features will pry open a lot of pocketbooks. Confessions of the world’s largest Switcher?

In writing for O’Reilly’s MacDevCenter, Daniel Steinberg notes that Dr. Srinidhi Varadarajan would make for an excellent Switcher spokesperson for Apple. Steinberg writes, “His ad might go something like this. ‘I was in the market for a new machine. I was hoping to get ten teraflops by the end of the year. I’d never used a Mac and had been looking at Dells and IBMs. Then Apple released the G5 on June 23. A week later I bought 1,100 duals online at the Apple Store.

WiebeTech debuts new FireWire 800/USB 2.0 products

WiebeTech today introduced three new FireWire 800/USB 2.0 storage devices: the DesktopGB+800, a FireWire 800 fanless desktop storage enclosure; BayDock 800, a removable drive desktop storage system with single or dual bays; and RaidTECH, a hot-swappable dual drive FireWire 800 hardware-based RAID system. All three products will begin shipping next month. WiebeTech also cut prices on select existing FireWire 400 devices.
