Alexander Wilson Studios today announced the release of Audiobook Studio 3 (formerly AudioBookMaker), a Mac OS X application that helps users create dynamic digital “audiobook” audio files using only text files and Mac OS X’s built-in text-to-speech capabilities. Version 3 is Panther ready, offers an enhanced preview function, and includes more dynamic control. Users can now insert pauses, speed up or slow down readings in the middle of the text, and emphasize or demphasize single words using the text editor before converting their texts into audio files. The resulting files can then be dropped into iTunes, distributed on the Web, or placed on an iPod. Audiobook Studio 3 requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later and is priced at US$6.
