America Online today announced it is equipping more AOL members with spam fighting tools by rolling out personalized and adaptive spam filters to earlier versions of the AOL service. The new spam filters are available now for members using AOL 8.0 Plus and will be delivered automatically over the coming months to members using AOL 8.0, AOL 7.0, AOL 6.0 and AOL for Mac OS X. AOL’s spam filters learn and adapt to the type of e-mail that each member considers to be spam, require no additional software, and no action on the part of members to install. AOL says this compliments the server-side spam filtering it performs for all members 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, which now blocks up to 2.4 billion pieces of junk e-mail each day.
