Other World Computing (OWC) announced today slot-loading internal SuperDrive and Combo drive upgrades for the 15-inch PowerBook G4 and Power Mac G4 Cube. Allowing users to replace their current internal optical drive, the SuperDrives provide full DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW capabilities, while the Combo drives provide full CD-R/RW and DVD playback capabilities. The SuperDrive burns DVD-R and DVD-RW at 1x speed, CD-R at 16x, CD-RW at 4x, and reads CDs at 24x and DVDs at 8x. The Combo drive burns CD-R and CD-RW at 8x speed, and reads CDs at 24x and DVDs at 8x. Both drives are compatible with all Apple software titles, including iDVD (SuperDrive only), iTunes and Disc Burner. The SuperDrives are priced from US$379.95, while both models of the Combo drive are priced at $199.95.
