The Apple Store in Durham, North Carolina will be opening at 7:00 AM ET (three hours earlier than usual) to accommodate the longs lines of customers expected for the state’s second annual sales tax holiday. In 2002, shoppers looking for a new Mac averaged a two-hour wait, according to Durham’s Herald-Sun newspaper. “If it’s anything like last year, it will be very, very busy,” said Apple Store assistant manager Dan Hughes. “It’s always nice to save people money on an expensive purchase, and this is a fairly easy way to do that.” Update: MacMinute reader Mike Skultety informed us that North Carolina CompUSA stores will be opening at 6:00 AM this weekend.
