Sonnet Technologies today introduced the Encore/ST G4 1.4GHz upgrade card for Power Mac G4 machines. The new upgrade utilizes the 745X series of Motorola G4 chips, has 2MB DDR (Double Data Rate) L3 backside cache, and delivers processor performance of up to four times that of the original systems, according to the company. The 1.4GHz card is priced at US$599.95 and is compatible with the following Power Mac G4 systems: AGP Graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio, Cube, and QuickSilver 2001 (733, 800DP, 867).
