Canon today unveiled the CanoScan LiDE 80 USB 2.0 scanner, an ultra-slim bus-powered flatbed unit that offers scanning with up to 2400×4800 dpi resolution and 48-bit color (both input and output) for over 281 trillion possible colors. The LiDE 80 will come with a film adapter unit (FAU) that allows you to scan a 35mm un-mounted frames (positive or negative). The US$179.99 scanner comes with a host of Mac software, including Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. The LiDE 80 scanner, which works with Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, is expected to ship in August.
