IBM is planning to challenge Pixar, creators of “Monsters Inc.” and “Finding Nemo,” through a partnership with computer-animation company Threshold Digital Research Labs. “We want to be the next-generation Pixar,” Larry Kasanoff, head of Threshold, told USA Today. The terms of the deal are not being disclosed, though Kasanoff says IBM has “invested multiple millions in us to build our studio.” Threshold and IBM’s first movie, “Food Fight” — about what happens in a grocery store after closing time — is 14 to 18 months from completion.
