Buy.com will reportedly unveil a new online music service next Tuesday with a US$40 million promotional campaign and a launch celebration in New York’s Times Square. Taking its cue from Apple’s iTunes Music Store, Buy.com will sell individual tracks without collecting a monthly subscription fee, the Mercury News reported. The article also notes that the online retailer will be heavily targeting PC users and has yet to secure licensed music from all five major record labels. Pricing for the downloads is not yet known.
