j2 Global Communications today announced the availability of Messenger for Mac OS X, the company’s communications and messaging software. Messenger delivers faxes and voicemail as email attachments to subscribers’ email boxes and is available free to j2 Global’s eFax, jConnect and Corporate customers. “j2 Global recognizes the value and loyalty of the Macintosh user community, and is embarking upon a new initiative to better meet the needs of this audience — beginning with this new Messenger application for OS X,” said Mike Pugh, vice president of product marketing at j2 Global. The company’s Web site does not yet appear to have been updated, as the version of eFax Messenger listed (v2.1.0) has been avaiable for a while now and does not support receiving voicemails as email attachments or sending faxes from within applications (available in the PC version for a fee), as stated in the press release.
