SmartDisk Corporation today introduced a new line of high performance desktop hard drives that connect to Macs using the new, higher speed 800 Mbit/sec FireWire standard or the FireWire 400 standard. The SmartDisk FirePower features a 3.5″ mechanism, capacity of 200 GB, 7200-rpm mechanism with an 8-megabyte cache, and the new Oxford 922 high performance bridge chip. The new drive is expected to be available in March — pricing was not given.
