Avid Technology today announced Avid Free DV, a free, DV-only version of its award-winning video editing software. The new software offers two video tracks, four audio tracks, basic trimming and editing functionality, and up to two streams of real-time effects. Avid Free DV is scheduled to be available in Q2 2003 for Mac OS X. Avid also announced a number of new Avid Xpress DV software training initiatives, including the opening of seventeen Avid Authorized Education Centers (AAECs) and the release of four Avid Xpress DV training books.
