RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent (or Inexpensive)
Disks. RAID disk drives are used frequently on servers. RAID 5 provides
data striping (spreading out blocks of each file across multiple disks) and
stripe error correction information. This results in excellent performance
and good fault tolerance. It uses 3 or more disk drives and provides the
best balance of cost, performance, and data protection.
Established in 1993, NYRO Technix, Inc. developed drivers for NeXT Computer
and NEXTSTEP drivers for Canon. It now produces and markets software for
the Macintosh, Windows and NEXTSTEP/OPENSTEP operating systems, including
VirtSpace, the auto-scrolling virtual window manager.
