Ruling nears in Microsoft settlement proposal case

U.S. District Court Judge J. Frederick Motz could rule as early as today on a proposed multi-million-dollar settlement of the class action antitrust suits that calls for computers and Microsoft software into the nation’s poorest schools, Reuters reports. Motz had given the two sides until 17:00 ET Thursday to reach a compromise, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.

Designers mixed, but generally positive, on new iMac

A lengthy and interesting Wired article offers opinions of several designers on Apple’s new iMac, which range from overwhelmingly positive to questionable. “I think it’s brilliant. It’s a pioneer, a first in the industry,” raves one designer, while another cautions: “I didn’t catch the friendliness that they’re evidently trying to portray. I think the previous iMac was more friendly and more bubbly.”
