A fledgling program to incorporate iBooks into the Piscataquis CommunityMiddle School curriculum in 2000 has been deemed a success by SuperintendentMatthew Oliver, as reported by the Bangor Daily News. Oliver recently distributed a 3-page report on itssuccess to some legislators and the media, highlighting their use of”Internet driver’s licenses” for students and broad training and support todeter potential problems.

Intelli Innovations has released IntelliMerge 2.0, a new version of its bulk e-mail software for Mac OS 8.5 and later and Mac OS X. Version 2.0 adds an integrated styled text editor, direct mailing in Mac OS X, HTML preview, a POP3 mail checker, support for batch processing, and more. IntelliMerge 2.0 sells for US$64.95; upgrades from any previous version are $29.95.

Adam Iser has released Adium 1.5, the latest version of his popular alternative AOL Instant Messenger client for Mac OS X. Improvements from version 1.4.2 include multitasking, dock icon improvements, idle support, a built-in log viewer, and more. Adium is available as a free download.
