Microsoft has posted a transcript of the speech made earlier this week by Kevin Browne, General Manager of Microsoft’s Macintosh Business Unit, where he announced Microsoft’s intent to continue to develop new Macintosh software products. The transcript also includes the question and answer session conducted at the end of the presentation.

Pocket Software has released PocketBackup 1.0, a new utility for Mac OS X that offers a simple three step backup process. The software saves backups to disk images or burns to CD, auto mounts AppleTalk and network drives, and records and tracks previously made backups. PocketBackup 1.0 sells for US$20.

Sibelius Software has released a demo version of Sibelius 2, its popular music notation software for Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X. The demo version provides access to many of the features of the full version, and includes several example scores and a demo user guide summarizing the main features of the program. Sibelius 2 sells for US$599.

This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference will be “the best Apple has ever done,” Richard Kerris, Apple’s director of developer technologies, told Macworld UK. The article offers a good deal of perspective on Mac OS X from a number of developers.
