RealNetworks upgrades streaming solution

RealNetworks today introduced RealVideo 9, the latest version of its Internet video streaming solution that delivers a 30 percent reduction in bandwidth compared to version 8. Real claims that the new system delivers data comparable in quality to the Apple-backed MPEG-4 format, which Real also supports, at half the bit-rate, allowing VHS quality video to be streamed at 160Kbps and DVD quality video at 500Kbps.
