The Iconfactory has released IconBuilder Pro 3.5, the latest version of its robust icon creation tool that functions as a Photoshop filter. Version 3.5 has been re-engineered for compatibility with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and Mac OS X. IconBuilder Pro 3.5 sells for US$69.00 and is provided as a free upgrade for owners of version 3.x.

Steve Becker has released PrintMagic 1.0 for Mac OS X, an application that allows users to specify exactly what they want to print from a Web page or file. PrintMagic also offers the ability to add notes to any printed text, functions like the Desktop Printer from Mac OS 8/9 with drag-and-drop support, and more. PrintMagic is provided as US$24.95 shareware.

Adobe and Macromedia will square off in court today regarding rival patent infringement claims, as noted by c|net. In August 2000, Adobe filed suit against Macromedia alleging that the interface for Macromedia Flash infringed on Adobe’s patent for tabbed palettes. Macromedia countered with a lawsuit claiming Adobe’s Photoshop and GoLive products infringe upon two patents held by Macromedia.

Macromedia today announced Fireworks MX and Dreamweaver MX, new versions of its professional design tools for the Web. Both products feature Mac OS X compatibility as well as a host of new features, including Macromedia’s new MX-series work space interface, first introduced last month with Flash MX.
