AOL UK has announced that it is developing a version of its software for Mac OS X, according to Macworld UK. The announcement follows some six months after the company said it would be suspending development of the client. At the time, AOL said the recent release of Mac OS X 10.1 rendered much of its work on the software useless. “We said we’d watch the market–and it’s moved. Mac OS X is taking off, it’s moving very quickly through Apple’s user base.

Apple’s Hot News page has published a feature covering Ableton’s Live software, which can automatically beat match in real time any beat or loop entered into its sequencing environment.

During the past week, MacDesktops has posted 14 new desktop pictures, including: Boxcar (Still Life Photos), Jim Morrison (Music), Red roses (Flora), and The Crazy Ones (Apple – TD Portraits). Meanwhile, Mandolux has posted 12 new desktop pictures, representing a continuation of the Vector, Technosis, F-22 Raptor, and XB-70 Valkyrie series.

In Thursday’s edition of The Wall Street Journal, tech columnist Walt Mossberg offered a number of points that laptop purchasers may want to consider, including informing readers that “two of the absolute finest laptops around don’t run Windows. They are Apple’s PowerBook and iBook models, and they run the new Macintosh OS X operating system.”

LittleWing, the Japanese software firm known best for its pinball games for the Mac OS, has released Jinni Zeala, its first Mac OS X-compatible pinball title, as noted by Inside Mac Games. Jinni Zeala is available now for download and runs in demo mode until a license key is purchased, which costs about US$23 (2,980 yen).
