Trinfinity Software releases Seagull Video Player 2.3

Trinfinity Software today released Seagull Video Player 2.3, an update to its application for creating video playlists and playing them full-screen. Version 2.3 adds the option to use a fade transition between videos, includes an improved “Scan Folder For Videos” dialog, and fixes a bug that caused a fatal error when the user selected “Play From Current Selection” and no video was selected. Seagull Video Player is available for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, priced at US$20.

Aspyr announces The Sims: Unleashed

Aspyr today announced that it will publish a Mac version of The Sims: Unleashed, a new expansion pack for the popular simulation game. The new pack allows a player’s Sims to own a variety of pets (from dogs to lizards), and includes five new career tracks with 50 new jobs, 40 new residential lots, and 125 new objects. The Sims: Unleashed will be available for MacOS 8.6 or higher and Mac OS X, and can be pre-ordered now for US$29.95. The title is currently in the beta stage of conversion, and is expected to ship next month.

Apple has updated its Apple Store for Education Hot Deals page with a variety of promotions tailored especially to the education market. The “X on Campus” promo offers Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar), along with the “Getting Started with Mac OS X” CD, and 128MB of RAM for US$99. Customers can also purchase the same bundle plus 256MB of RAM for $129, or the same bundle plus 512MB of RAM for $169.
