Apple adds to UK market share

Apple UK has seen a 21.2 percent year-over-year growth in sales, according to a new report from IDC, as noted by MacUser UK. The growth, which is attributed in part to new retail partnerships, has boosted Apple’s UK market share from 2.5 percent to 3.2 percent. Overall PC shipments fell 4.0 percent in the UK during the same period.

Microsoft continues to woo AOL subscribers

Microsoft is preparing to launch another volley against America Online with the release of TrueSwitch, a new service that allows AOL subscribers to move their AOL address book, AOL Mailbox, and AOL calendar over to MSN. TrueSwitch can also notify contacts of a user’s new e-mail address, forward email, and cancel a subscriber’s AOL account. TrueSwitch will work with Windows users only; Microsoft recently began testing a very limited version of MSN for Mac.
