New survey finds 60 percent plan on leaving AOL

Some 60 percent of AOL subscribers plan on leaving the service, according to a new report from ChangeWave. Reuters reports that 27 percent of the 402 respondents to the survey had left the service in the last year, while two out of five expressed dissatisfaction with AOL, the highest of any ISP. Forty percent were clearly dissatisfied with the brand, service, and customer support, while others cited the service’s higher cost and a desire for broadband access as reasons for considering abandoning AOL.

Weak passwords are security’s Achilles heel

While companies pour thousands to millions of dollars into IT security, a c|net report explains that robust firewalls and security patches do nothing against the most common security flaw: weak passwords. “Just about every company that we have gone into, even large multinationals, has a high percentage of accounts with easily (cracked) passwords,” Greg Shipley, director of consulting for the network protection firm Neohapsis told c|net.
