PowerLogix announces 1GHz G4 upgrades

PowerLogix today announced the world’s fasted PowerPC G4 upgrades, with speeds ranging from 750MHz to 1GHz. The PowerForce G4 Series 100 upgrades are for systems with 100MHz bus speeds (350MHz to 500MHz Power Mac G4 and Cube systems, excluding the “Yikes!” Power Mac G4 with PCI graphics), while the Series 133 are for systems with 133MHz bus speeds (466MHz and faster systems). The upgrades will ship in July at prices ranging from US$449 to $749.

Palm preps new handhelds for Fall debut

Palm plans to unveil three new handhelds this fall, including one that will debut for US$100 and one that will feature the ability to make phone calls, according to c|net. Additionally, Palm said it plans to introduce handhelds in the future with built-in keyboards, similar to RIM’s Blackberry and Handspring’s Treo.

EarthLink and Paramount Pictures today announced the launch of the StarTrek.net DSL service. StarTrek.net, which also offers dial-up connectivity, offers authentic Star Trek theming of their Internet access software and browser, a StarTrek.net email address, desktop customization options, and exclusive access to specially-created Star Trek content. The service is being provided for US$39.95 per month for the first six months with no hardware or installation fees.

Dr. Bott ships high-end iBook carrying case

Dr. Bott introduced today the iCase12, which it bills as the “ultimate carry case” for 12-inch iBooks. The US$299 case is constructed of during ABS plastic and features LiftoMatic telescopic feet, which raise the iBook, allowing for full use of the iBook without removing it from the case. A $419 Plus version of the case adds a sidebag for documents and items as well as an ergonomically curved and molded Deluxe carrying strap.
