Apple discusses Middle East

In an interview with Lisa Creffield of CNBC’s Middle East Business News, Jacques Chammas of Apple’s Middle East division discusses the companies position and future in that region, as noted by MacSurfer. Chammas acknowledges that Apple’s market share in that region is lower than it is worldwide, partly due to a lack of a “very very low-end” offering, but says Apple continues to grow steadily.

FireWire companies tout new products at Developers’ Conference

A press release from the 1394 Trade Association offers a brief overview of the new products and technologies demonstrated at last week’s 1394 Developers’ Conference. Apple was on hand at the conference demonstrating the new iMac and iPhoto with Nikon’s new FireWire-equipped DI digital camera, while Philips demonstrated the first implementation of wireless 1394. Several other companies showed off their products as well, including 1394-based PC speakers from Microsoft.
