Macs in action: GirlsFilmSchool

Apple’s latest Hot News education feature documents the use of Macs and iMovie at the College of Santa Fe, GirlsFilmSchool. The program this summer will enable 20 adolescent girl to explore filmmaking and video production. “About half of [the girls] had had minimal contact with computers before, and many were fairly tech-phobic. But the Mac’s and iMovie’s ease of use really helped in getting them past those feelings,” Film Professor Deborah Fort explains.

Desktop pictures weekly recap

During the past week, MacDesktops has posted 14 new desktop pictures, including BMW XCoupe (Cars), Flag (Holidays), Morning sunshine (Flora), Think Physics (Logos, Apple), and Yin Yang (Art). Mac OS X Note Pad & Scrapbook substitute

The Mac Champion Team has released Alepin 1.5, a Mac OS X application designed to take the place of the Note Pad and Scrapbook applications found in the classic Mac OS. New features in this version include the ability to import from Note Pad files, improved drag and drop support, and an auto-backup feature. Alepin 1.5 is US$10 shareware.
