America Online and Verizon Wireless launch AOL Instant Messenger service

America Online and Verizon today announced the availability of the AOL Instant Messenger service for Verizon Wireless customers. The service will allow users to exchange instant messages in real-time with others via a text messaging enabled mobile phone. The service also includes a Buddy List feature that can alert users when their buddies sign on, and customers can also use their existing AOL or AIM screen name and password.
