Mac revolutionary film completed

A new short film, based on a young man so obsessed with Macs he becomes a Malcolm X-like revolutionary, recently finished shooting in London. Some of the action in the film, entitled iBrotha, even takes place at the “Temple of Mac,” a Nation of Islam-like place of worship, according to Wired. The film stars Neil Rayment, most recently from the Matrix sequel.

Alias|Wavefront today announced it is now offering the mental ray for Maya plug-in at no charge to all Maya Complete and Maya Unlimited customers. The mental ray for Maya plug-in, previously priced at US$3,995, is available free to all Maya customers beginning with Maya 4.5 and mental ray for Maya 1.5. Maya 4.5 customers can now download mental ray for Maya 1.5 public beta from the company’s Web site.

Apple gives Jaguar away free to K-12 Teachers

In a press release issued today, Apple announced that it is giving a free copy of Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) to every K-12 teacher in the United States. The “X for Teachers” program will provide qualifying teachers with Mac OS X v10.2, Mac OS 9 for Classic support, and a Getting Started with Mac OS X Training CD — all without any cost to teachers for shipping, handling or postage.
