Dauger Research has shipped Pooch 1.3, the latest update to their Parallel OperatiOn and Control Heuristic cluster management software. Version 1.3 enables application writers to launch multiple parallel-computing tasks per node, automatically taking advantage of multiprocessor Macs and OS X’s preemptive multitasking. In addition, Pooch now uses Rendezvous, supplementing Service Location Protocol, to perform registration, discovery, and resolution of cluster nodes over local networks and the Internet. Pooch 1.3 is now shipping to current users with an active subscription, while a new version is priced at US$175 for the first compute node then $125 for each node thereafter. Special academic pricing is also available.
