Other World Computing has ceased shipping DVD Enabler with its FireWire DVD-R/RW drives, per a request from Apple. DVD Enabler added iDVD support for the drives, which OWC trumpeted as being an industry first. “Although we had received strong support from our customers for the DVD Enabler software and our iDVD support, we value our long-standing relationship with Apple Computer,” said Larry O’Connor, president of OWC, in a statement. “We have, therefore, agreed to honor Apple’s request and have halted all sales and marketing of DVD Enabler and all support of Apple’s iDVD.” The drive remains compatible with Roxio’s Toast, which is bundled with the product, as well as Apple’s DVD Studio Pro.
