OTC Wireless today introduced WiSER, formerly known by the code-name “VESTA,” a plug and play product which utilizes an 802.11b (wireless) solution to connect any two RS-232 devices together. WiSER is currently in beta testing and is expected to ship to OEMs in time for the holiday shopping season in the United States, Canada and the UK, with Japan following in the first Quarter of 2003. WiSER is based on the IEEE 802.11b standard, operating in the 2.4GHz frequency range with a data transfer rate of 11 Mbps, and is compatible with any operating system including Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
