C|net has published an article outlining a number of announcements Microsoft will make this week, starting with today’s news of the company’s next-generation Windows Media 9 multimedia software. C|net calls the announcement “the first of several preemptive strikes against Apple Computer’s Macworld trade show” noting that the “announcements about new technologies far ahead of their delivery to market.”
