Apple today announced that the eMac is now available in the retail channel. The CRT-based eMac was originally introduced two months ago and targeted exclusively for education customers. “Consumers have pounded on the table demanding to buy the eMac, and we agree,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs in a statement. The eMac is available in a single configuration for US$1,099 with a 700MHz Power PC G4, 128MB SDRAM, CD-RW drive, 40GB hard drive, 10/100 Ethernet, 56K modem, and GeForce2 MX graphics.
